Wonderland Amusement Park

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

If you are a big fan of the games for the Wii that are collections of mini-games, then Majesco is working on a title that is right up your gaming alley. It’s called Wonderworld Amusement Park.

New VC game

Monday, April 28th, 2008

So, with the release of Mario Kart, why even bother putting anything new out for the Virtual Console? That could be the attitude of Nintendo as there is only one new Virtual Console game this week.

doubledragon.jpg

It’s Double Dragon and this side scrolling action-packed title is available for only 500 Wii points. Double Dragon was first released for the NES and is for 1 to 2 players. It’s rated Everyone +10.

Billy Lee has to save his girlfriend from this group that has taken her. They want to know Billy’s martial arts secrets in exchange for Marian. Billy sets out on a rescue mission to save Marian.

Mario Kart Wii is almost available to buy. Tomorrow it will be released. Too bad I’m flat broke. Guess I will have to enjoy the VC Mario Kart 64 for a few more weeks until I have I can get the Wii version.

Build a Bear Wii edition

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

buildabear.jpg

The Build-a-Bear workshop is coming to the Wii. First you had to build your bear at a local store. Then came along the DS game that allowed you to build your own virtual stuffed animal. Now Wii owners can have their chance to build a bear, too.

Since 1997, Over 6 million furry friends have been made in over 370 Build-a-Bear Workshops around the world. The DS game, that launched in November 2007, has sold over 180,000 units.

Build-a-Bear Workshop A Friend Fur All Seasons will be available sometime in this fall.

More Wiis Coming This Year

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Nintendo announces record revenues for the fiscal year ending March 31st. Sales were 1.67 trillion yen, an increase of 73 percent over the prior year.

The company has also increased the shipments of Wiis. Nintendo plans to ship 25 million Wiis this fiscal year. Last year they shipped 18.61 million consoles.

So, for those still looking for the Nintendo Wii, there will be more available this year. Hopefully you will have ample opportunity to purchase this great console, not that I’m biased or anything.

Two New V/C Games

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Two new games for the Virtual Console this week. I’m saving every red cent for Mario Kart. I might have to check these out later.

River City Ransom™ (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older-Mild Suggestive Themes and Mild Violence, 500 Wii Points)

Phantasy Star™ III Generations of Doom (Sega Genesis, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone-Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points)

Home Sweet Home for WiiWare

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

I have to admit that deep down that I wish I was an interior designer. How much fun would it be to buy home furnishings and then place them into a house. It would be fun but not sure if I’m really cut out for it. Sometimes it’s best just to dream of doing something and not actually ruin it by doing it for a living.

I do enjoy games that allow me to decorate homes, amusement parks, cities, etc. That’s why Home Sweet Home really caught my attention. After playing it for an hour, I was undeniably hooked. This fun game will also be available for the Nintendo Wii through WiiWare, Nintendo’s new service to bring casual games to Wii owners by allowing them to purchase and download the games from their Wii.

EBGames Price Drops on Wii titles

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

nights.JPG

While looking at the EBGames.com websites Wii section, I noticed a price drop section. Curious, I clicked in the link and found some titles I’m interested in picking up are not cheaper.

NiGHTS: Journey into Dreams is now $29.99
Luxor: Phraroah’s Challenge is now $29.99
Petz Dogz is now $19.99
Pimp my Ride is now $29.99

There are 45 items listed under their Wii price drop section. Listed above are the games that I am most interested in playing. Usually I try to hold off buying new games until they drop in price. Of course, some titles, like anything with the name Mario in it, will take a very long time to drop in price. But for most titles, they drop a few months after their release, which if you can hold out will save you some money.

Mario Super Sluggers Announcement

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

mariosluggers.jpg

Nintendo announces a new sports game for the Wii, and it will follow in the footsteps of Mario Strikers and Mario Kart. That’s right. It’s a Mario-themed baseball game for the Wii.

Mario Super Sluggers will have lots of familiar surroundings since it will be using a lot of elements from the Mario franchise. Players will use the Wiimote to play the game by swinging it as a bat or moving it to throw pitches.

No release date for Mario Super Sluggers has been announced.

Wii Price Drop?!?

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

There are rumors of a Wii price cut this May in Europe. The rumor is that the Wii will drop to around $150 with a Wii bundle with Mario Kart at $199.

Nintendo has responded by saying these are just rumors and that Nintendo has made no such announcement about a price cut or the price of a Wii Mario Kart bundle.

It seems price cut rumors always run rampant in the spring. It seems there is always a price cut romor looming before E3. Maybe they are ill-timed April Fool’s Jokes?

New V/C Games

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Two new Virtual Console games this week. Two NES classics: one puzzle, one sports.

Yoshi’s Cookie (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points)

Bases Loaded (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points)

Sam & Max

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Sam & Max are coming to the Wii this fall. This will be a collection of the first six seasons of the popular PC title.

bandit.jpg

Here is a little blurb about who Sam & Max is for those who may not know:

Sam is a six-foot dog in a baggy suit sporting a trombone-sized .44 hand-cannon. Max is a three foot “rabbity thing” with a saw blade grin and the impulsive nature of the average piranha. Together they patrol the sticky streets of a fantastical New York City, righting wrongs, pummeling perps, and ridding the urban landscape of the shifty legions of “self-propelled gutter trash” that litter their streets. Sam & Max have appeared in comics, video games, an animated TV series coming soon to DVD, and an Eisner award-winning webcomic.

Buying Wii Points

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Did you know that through the Wii Shopping Channel you can buy Wii points? What I like is that you can buy 1000 Wii points at a time. I wanted to be Mario Kart 64, so since I was 800 points short (game is 1000 points and I had 200 points), I was excited to buy the points through the Wii. Yes! No extra trip to town to satisfy my desire to play Mario Kart now.

mariokart64.jpg

We have satellite Internet, so it seems to take a long time for the Wii shop to finally load. But it finally does and I make my selection to buy 1000 Wii points. Next I put in my credit card information and then have to put in some information for verification purposes. I type all the in and click confirm.
