Canadian’s Still Lining Up for Wiis
Wiis in Canada are sold out everywhere…still?
I drove by my local Best Buy last week, Friday morning to be exact. I was intrigued by what I found… a line at 7:00 in the morning. Now all the Boxing Day brouhaha was over and done with most sales only last two days anyway but I digress. As it so happens these people were in line to purchase this particular Best Buy’s shipment of Nintendo Wii’s. The store confirmed that they had 27 available for purchase and most people had been in line since the night before. I counted more that 27 in line by the way, good thing there were no children. I would hate to see a little gamer disappointed for reasons he can not understand.
Why are people still lining up to for hours to get a Wii? There should be plenty of them in the stores by now. The console launched back in November. Now, I know that Nintendo has seen some very impressive sales over the holiday season, but this is after Christmas and Boxing Day. I have not heard about any of this happening in the U.S. My understanding is that Wii’s are plentiful there. I really can’t imagine lining up to purchase a console or game on any day other than launch. I contacted Nintendo for comment but they were unavailable (Holiday) but the second they get back to me I will post an update.

Um, Dont feel bad canadians, They are still anything but plentiful here, I myself have one. I know that lines we’re still forming at my local walmart about a week and a half ago. ( I know 2 people who sat in line all night and they said that many of the people there didnt even get one. It appears there are more consoles coming in, but you deffinatly cant just walk into a store and find one, it still takes some looking. And one thing I can attest to that any important Wii accessories are still damn hard to find, My walmart had everything in stock one day, I came back the next to buy another Wii points card and maybe Wii-mote and all that was left was one classic controller. Im sure that eventually it will become easier to get a Wii in canda but its still pretty hard everywhere

That’s right. I was in GameStop a few days ago and I was just curious if they had any Wii’s. I was fortunate enough to get one a few weeks ago, but I know people who are still looking for one. I said, “You still out of Wii’s and PS3’s?” The guy said, “We sold out of Wii’s this morning, but we have the 60GB PS3’s.” Astonished, I said, “You’ve got PS3’s?” He said, “Yeah. PS3’s aren’t hard to find anymore.” I couldn’t believe my ears! Is Nintendo going to regain the top spot? Anyway, this just goes to show that Wii’s are hard to find no matter where you go.

Same thing is happening in the Wal-Mart I work at (in Milton, Ontario): absolutely no Wiis in sight after the first ten minutes of opening when we get them in, but we’ve had 3 60GB PS3s on our shelves for almost a week and a half now. Seems Nintendo did something right this time.
