Fun Park

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Many will be traveling this summer to a local theme park to ride some rides and have a good time. There are several Six Flags theme parks across the United States. When I was a kid, there were only two - one in Georgia and one in Texas. Now they are practically everywhere. There are now 21 Six Flag locations in North America, Canada, and Mexico. If you’re not located near one but want to experience all the excitement of Six Flags, have I got a new game to tell you about.

Fun Park is being developed by Brash Entertainment for the Nintendo Wii, DS, and and PlayStation 2. There are 40 mini-games that are based on classic theme park fun. Fun Park is based on the regional Six Flags theme parks. First order of business when playing is to create your character. Once that business is taken care of, it’s time to enter the park and choose which games you want to play. Players can test their skills, win prizes, and play against their friends in Fun Park.

funpark.jpg

Practice your shooting skills in class games like fill the balloon with water or shoot the moving duck decoys. Fun Park, like the mini-games before it, will make good use of the Wiimote. This type of game is the kind that is great for the Wii and to play with friends. Fun Park will be for the whole family no matter what their ages.

Fun Park has not yet been rated and is still being developed. It will be available this winter.

Endless Ocean

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

Nintendo’s upcoming title Endless Ocean brings to mind those fireplace VHS tapes that were all the rage a few years ago. Or how about the aquarium VHS that let people experience all the enjoyment of having fish without having to take care of them.

endlessocean.jpg

That’s basically what Endless Ocean for the Wii appears to be. Players can swim around in the ocean looking at the aquatic life. The point of Endless Ocean? Well, it’s to relax and enjoy the scenery. There is a log book where you can place objects that you find on your journey. So, maybe it does have a little hidden object game play to it.

Endless Ocean might be a great way to unwind after a jam session of Guitar Hero III or after Wii Boogie. Endless Ocean is due to be released January 22nd and will retail for $29.99.

trixie1.jpg

The game is about the fearless Trixie, the Easter bunny cadet, as she single-handedly chases down Penumbra – the new tyrant of Toyland. It is up to Trixie to collect all the Myth Maker orbs. Samba de Amigo

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

The breakout hit for the Sega Dreamcast will get a Wii makeover. Samba de Amigo, the musical game that is played with maracas, is being developed for the Nintendo Wii. Titles like Samba are perfect to showcase the Wii controllers game play capabilities. While the Dreamcast version can still be found on eBay, prepare to pay for it as the going price for just the game is around $30-$40. The special maraca controller is a lot more. The screenshots are from the Dreamcast version of Samba de Amigo.

samba04.jpg

Texas-based Gearbox Software is working to bring the still very popular hit to the Wii and have been working to perfect the Wii remote control with the game. Apparently development is going quite well, and Gearbox solicits advice from the original Samba creators at Sega. Gearbox will update the version but plan to leave intact the game play basics and other factors of the game.

The song list for Samba de Amigo will feature a mix of original games as well as some new ones. The mix should be equal, with half the songs being from the original version while half being completely new songs.

Players take on the role of Amigo, a fun loving monkey who enjoys dancing, to play through various songs and mini games. Players will use the Wii remote and Nunchuk as maracas and will also have to strike different poses earn points. The mini games from both versions of Samba(original and the version 2000 that was never released in the US) as well as characters will be included in the Wii version. There will also be new content as well. No word on any specifics just yet of what that might entail.

Samba de Amigo will be an exclusive to the Wii and will be released in the Spring of 2008.
