Samba de Amigo
One game that was made for the Nintendo Wii long before it was ever created was the Samba de Amigo for the Sega Dreamcast. It’s games like this one that make me sad that the Dreamcast did not take off in popularity as well as some other console systems. This classic rhythm game challenged players to shake their maracas in the direction of falling balls. The Wii version of Samba de Amgio continues to offer the classic game play and throws in a few twists of its own to deliver a fun game that makes good use of the Wiimote and Nunchuk.
Samba de Amigo includes the classic version of the game as well as several mini-games. There is also a multi-player more for up to four people.
Your Mii even gets into the action and is featured in the background as you play the game. To advance in the game, you must score at least a C. There is a tutorial as well as an easy mode to help you get accustomed to the controls, which does have a slight learning curve. The controller will pick up any forward or back shake, making it easier to hit those balls that drop close together.
The controllers work well but aren’t perfect. They do seem pretty sensitive and do act erratically when the batteries are low. With the maracas, controller performance might be improved. The controller issue does take away from the game slightly but is not enough to deter the fun.
Samba de Amigo for the Wii is a lot of fun and while the controls aren’t perfect, it is still a worthy game to check out sometime especially for fans of rhythm games.
