Top Five Most Wanted in ‘07
In lieu of a Feature Friday today I thought that I would jump on the “Most Wanted” list craze that happens to gaming sites every year around this time. I’ve actually been thinking about this for awhile now and I even got some input from my fellow game design students at IADT Toronto. So I present to you, Wii Rally’s Most Wanted.
NUMBER 5
Pokemon: Battle Revolution

Already available in Japan, hardcore “pokemaniacs” in North America have been patiently waiting for this title to finally hit our shores. Similar to the Pokemon: Stadium games which appeared on the N64 and GameCube. What’s really exciting is that Pokemon: BR will give Wii gamers their first taste of online play and Wii-DS connectivity. Coupled with the upcoming launch of Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl there’s no stopping this powerhouse franchise. But get ready for more ridiculous numbers, sources tell me that Pokemon: BR will have it’s own friend code system so get ready to jot down more obscenely long 16 digit codes.
NUMBER 4
Super Paper Mario

Originally announced as a GameCube title, Nintendo quietly moved this long awaited spin-off to the Wii last fall. Since then Nintendo has been pretty good about showing the progress of the game. Combining RPG elements with traditional platforming gameplay. Super Paper Mario will take place in both the 2D and 3D realms and with the unique controls of the Wii gamers are in for quite a treat at least until SquiNix and Nintendo are on good enough terms to give us a sequel to the amazing Super Mario: RPG.
NUMBER 3
Super Mario: Galaxy

Optimistic gamers were hoping that Galaxy would be a Wii launch title but Nintendo said “No Dice” and have pushed this title back to sometime later this year. Looking like a completely original iteration of the famous franchise Galaxy should should definitely make up for the lackluster performance of Super Mario: Sunshine which despite starring every one’s favorite plumber seemed to be lacking in the fun department.
NUMBER 2
Metrio Prime 3: Corruption

After two successful 3D romps on the GameCube intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran is back to fight the Space Pirates once more. Again the Wii’s controls are key to this game allowing gamers to battle and explore like never before. Gamers will also experience incredibly immersive shooting action that we have already seen in Zelda: Twilight Princess with the precise pointing of the WiiMote Samus will have the Space Pirates running for their lives screaming “Arrrrgh!”
NUMBER 1
Super Smash Brothers: Brawl
Debuting on the N64 for this button masher really took off with the GameCube’s version Super Smash Brothers: Melee. The game proved so popular that people even compete against one other for money. Yes that’s right Melee is one of the games used on the MLG (Major League Gaming) circuit. Brawl brings some new characters to the party with the additions of Wario, Pit, Mage Knight and Metal Gear star Solid Snake. Featuring new and detailed environments, the return of classic characters like Mario, Link, and Samus Aran mix in the Wii’s controls and you have Wii Rally’s “Most Wanted” game of the year.
Come back Monday and see Wii Rally’s Most Wanted Virtual Console games of ‘07.

I agree with each and every one of these games. I used to play SSB all the time when I was growing up with my friends. Some of my most favorite gaming moments were with that game. And even though we all don’t live near each other anymore, I know they will get the Wii for SSB once it comes out, and we shall have our epic battles once again!
Great article Tim!

It may not be an actual Wii title, but the one game I would love to see available would be TROGDOR from Viidelectrix’s website. The other games designed for the Wii were a lot of fun, and I’d imagine TROGDOR would be just as fun (probably better, because there’s no other game out there that allows you to BURNiNATE peasants!). Other than that, the list would be exactly what I would say.
