Video Thursday: Sonic Edition

by

Sonic and the Secret Rings came out on Tuesday and I still have received no word from Sega on the status of my copy. Must have gotten lost in the mail or something. Anyway I found this video from Wii.TV of the first nine minuets or so of the game.
The video takes you through the intro video the tutorial stage and the first mission.

Still looks bad ass to me. From the control explanation you can kind of get a sense of how the game is played. My only gripe thus far is that annoying women’s voice. Kind of like Midina from the Zelda series only not as cute. Let hop something bad happens to her so you don’t have to listen to her through the entire game.

Bonus Round

We all know that the Wii is far less powerful than the competition but lets why Sonic for the 360 didn’t fare so well.

This is exactly why Sonic the Hedgehog for 360 took home EGM’s “Now Loading….and loading…..and loading” award this year. There are so many ways to streamline load times; this is what happens when you have a crappy programing team. To be honest I haven’t seen the words “Now Loading” on my Wii for more than 5 seconds. Twilight Princess was a huge game and I never had to wait for anything to load.

Looks like the controls are garbage, or at the very least inaccurate. Not to bash the Wii or anything, but the ’tilt to steer’ mechanic doesn’t really do it for me. It feels much less accurate then standard analog control, and much much less then a wheel (which it’s supposed to mimic).

About the voices, the woman’s voice is definately annoying (or at least jarringly awkward) but I think Sonic’s “alright” is more annoying, I was so hoping we could get away from the lame 2-phrase heroes this generation.

So this is off topic & I am sorry for that but since I trust your judgement I was wondering if you can advise me about the Wii game “Elebits”.
Now I know that this is not really your thing being a kids game and all but I wanted to know what you thought of it.

Maybe one day in your future blogs you can go over the best Wii games for all those people that enjoy child like games!
    Thanks

Are you kidding me? I love kids games. The first review I wrote was for a Spongebob game. I haven’t had a chance to get my hands on Elebits (Eledees for our European friends) But I have heard tones of good stuff and from the footy I’ve seen it looks like a solid entry from one of my favorite 3rd party devs Konami. As for your idea for the “kiddie game” article I’m gonna do one but I’m just waiting for more Wii games to be available. Most likely I’ll do one for Spring Break or when schools out.

Actually dont like kids games, but this one looks interesting .)
